Gary Devon

RUA Conor Prize winner in 2002, was elected an associate member of RUA in 2006. Gary was born in Bangor in 1958. He has been painting professionally for twenty-five years, following his degree in Fine Art at Goldsmiths, London.

Gary’s paintings predominantly concern the figure in an environment be it city, landscape or interior. In some works the narrative content may predominate, but in others there is more emphasis on the application of paint or accents of colour as he occasionally likes to play with the abstracted forms which present themselves in the initial process of painting

As well as his personal work he has taken on
various commissions including a painting of Kensington Palace for HRH The Prince of Wales and others for Dianna Rigg and Peter Alliss. Eamon Holmes has several of his works. A year-long project for The North Down Heritage Centre culminated in his 200 sq. foot mural depicting the flora and fauna of the National Trust coastline reserve of Ballymacormick Point.
