Joseph William Carey
RUA (1859-1937)
Carey was a Belfast artist and predominantly a watercolour painter of seascapes and landscapes. He also did some illustrative work.

He was a member of Belfast Ramblers Sketching Club and an active member of the Belfast Art Society and he was later to become an Academician of the Ulster Academy of Arts.

The most prestigious commission of his career was a series of thirteen scenes from Belfast history painted on canvas for the Ulster Hall and completed in 1903. He exhibited at the RHA from 1915-35
