Noel Murphy

Born in London, Noel Murphy studied in Dublin at NCAD and has an honours degree in Fine Art (Painting) from the University of Ulster, Belfast.

He graduated in 1994, the same year in which he won the Bass Ireland Prize; three years later he also received the Ireland Fund of Great Britain Annual Arts Award.

He has held several solo exhibitions with the Gorry Gallery, Dublin, and the Emer Gallery, Befast, and in 2003 was commissioned to paint The Northern Ireland Assembly in Session, becoming only the second artist to do so in the history of the State.

Noels work is represented in the collections of the Ulster Museum and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland among others.
